INFERTILITY CAUSES AND TREATMENTS

It is a very common understanding in our society that a woman is bound to reproduce a baby. On the contrary, it is not the case of every woman. Some women are still struggling to become a mother and sadly, some even have already lost their hopes.

Are there any treatments for sub fertility? Let’s get to know by Dr. Erum. According to Dr. Erum, there is no couple that is completely infertile. However, there are various causes of delay in fertility. Most anticipated causes are:

Although it is true that a healthy couple should ideally conceive with in 2-3 years of marriage, but there are certain other factors also involved in delay. Medical treatment usually don’t start from the beginning . It is advised to adopt natural conception. In addition to that, life style, diet and other habits needs to be observed if a couple is keen to conceive in early years but unable to do so.

If we talk about age factor of a mother, it is not a myth. Mother age has a great impact on fertility. Ideal age for women to fertile is between 20 to 35 years. After late 30’s there are chances of anomalies risks. Risks of down syndrome are also observed in that age. So it is better to opt for prime age fertility.

You will be surprised to know that our health, diet, mental stability and nicotine intake also affect on fertility. According to science, our reproductive system depends upon hormones that regulates by brain. So if the brain is under pressure or stress, it automatically creates disturbance in menstrual cycle. Resulting in fertility issues.

Do contraceptives affect sub fertility?

The answer is “No.”

Injectables, medicines, implants, IUD’s are all methods of contraception which helps in creating gap between two pregnancies. And none of these methods affect sub fertility. It is advised to give 2 years conception gap and 3 years birth to birth gap.

It is also observed that some couples never fertile and others get fertile, deliver a baby or gone through a miscarriage and then face sub fertility. What is the difference between these 2?

The answer to this question is that there are 2 types of sub fertility. These are:

PRIMARY SUB FERTILITY:

Primary sub fertility refers to couples who have not become pregnant after at least 1 year having natural methods without using birth controls.

    SECONDARY SUB FERTILITY:

    Secondary sub fertility refers to couples who have been able to get pregnant at least once, but now are unable.

    In either of the case, root cause should be identified first. Which already described above.

    TREATMENTS FOR SUB FERTILITY:

    There are now various advanced treatments of sub fertility. Mainly:

    *Medicines
    *Injectables
    *Test tube babies IUI
    *IVF

    For IVF, there are certain myths. But the truth is that, Fertility centers have advanced technology and treatments now. They take patient’s egg, centre fume and transform it into an embryo and then optimize it. This whole procedure done in presence of patient to avoid any doubts. This method usually creates multiple pregnancies. There are 2-3 eggs implanted to get mature. This precaution is taken because it is highly expensive method yet its success rate is 20-40% only.

    The main concern is to create awareness among couples to seek medical help. Evaluate yourself, diagnose the actual cause of sub fertility and then get treated. Identification of sub fertility level is crucial to start with the treatment.

    Nothing is impossible if there is Allah’s will. Have faith, and seek medical advise. Being a mother is indeed a privilege every woman look upon. But don’t forget, you have your own identity as well.
